Harris Low Cost Spay/Neuter

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program

There are many benefits to spaying and neutering your pet! First and foremost, it’s the best way to make sure your pet doesn’t end up contributing to the unwanted pet overpopulation and keeping more animals out of the shelter. At Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, pets have a home until they find their forever family, no matter how long that takes. But many dogs and cats are not this lucky. Every year, there are millions of animals who are euthanized simply because there is not enough space in shelters to house them all. These are healthy, happy animals that could have been great pets, if they’d been given a chance. Spaying and neutering is the most effective solution when helping to control the pet population.  Spaying and neutering is also beneficial for your pet’s health. They have a reduced risk for certain types of cancers and are less likely to become injured because of roaming, which leads to fights with other animals, getting hit by a vehicle or attacked by a wild animal. Altering your pet also helps curb undesirable behaviors, as well, such as spraying or marking and sterilized animals tend to be less aggressive.  Little Traverse Bay Humane Society offers a Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program, that is not only affordable to pet owners, but makes a huge impact on the local pet population by reducing the number of wanted litters in the area.
