Furry F.A.C.E.S. Program

"The Furry F.A.C.E.S. Program helps people keep their pets in circumstances where the cost of emergency services are beyond the reach of an otherwise caring owner. It reduces those cases where abandonment or euthanasia is the only course of action an owner can afford. I support this program because it helps owners keep their pets happy and healthy."

-Tom Ogden, Supporter of Furry F.A.C.E.S. Program

The Furry F.A.C.E.S. (Feline and Canine Emergency Services) Program was established in response to the high number of Little Traverse Bay Veterinary Clinic clients who experienced difficulty paying for emergency medical care for their pets. There’s no doubt that being a pet owner can be costly, but when a family is faced with an unforeseen medical issue with their pet (such as being hit by a car), they are often forced to make difficult decisions.

Sadly, this often results in an otherwise perfectly healthy animal being euthanized or surrendered to a shelter simply because the owner cannot afford to treat their animal’s injury or condition.  This leads to more animals in our shelter who otherwise could have stayed in loving homes. The  Furry F.A.C.E.S. Program ensures that pet owners do not have to make these tough decisions such as surrendering or euthanasia when this occurs. Emergency funds are available for those who need it most which will cover the bill for half of the emergency care.  This invaluable program works toward the goal of gaining equal treatment for all pets by eliminating some of the financial barriers that pet owners frequently face.  We truly feel that an animal’s health shouldn’t suffer simply because of their owner’s inability to pay.
